I really think you should go with the teeny weenie file. Nobody has regretted it many have come from a background similar to you. :)

I have had success with similar files. Fearghus is right. It can take a couple of weeks for the effect to happen.

It might be hard to say without knowing which file. But what your describing is similar to what other uses have described.
