Yeah, I'd say Audacity is one of the least intuitive programs I've used. I don't know how to do half this stuff myself -- just know that it can be done. Plus unless things have changed the documentation is pretty sketchy.

Well, Audacity will certainly let you layer tracks, and move them around/copy them etc. It will also do fades and such. So you could probably do most of what the Pixel files do with it.
