Although I agree that people who go that far down the rabbit hole are probably too far gone for it to work anyway, I do think meditation on no-self could help if one can muster up the effort and focus. It's much much more than just "There is no self, humm", it's using hypnosis/meditation to raise "s...

One of the examples that I've read about on this site is the Female Takeover file, which was actually made for that purpose, to create another personality. But then I heard the story of someone who eventually realised they didn't want it, but at that point buying a curse removal was useless because ...

It is often described that way, but it isn't really an atheist religion. The Tipitaka says there are many God like beings.

Buddhism And Possible Solutions To Split Personality Mutiny

I know that this could potentially belong in the religion forum, but before anyone jumps on me, hear me out. I had been reading a thread about how certain file/s seem to have created split personalities in people that can get out of control, and the person changed their mind eventually and it caused...

"unnatural" is an assumption. Prove that homosexuals weren't made that way by God. In ancient days, some people believed that God wanted them to have sex with their own gender, and many believe that today also, therefore this logic is an affront to freedom of religion and an affront to any country t...

Neither are supposed to be taken seriously, but some folks play it very straight faced. To a degree, I am one of those people who take it a little bit seriously. Some of the words of its creators are pretty interesting. I say it's similiar to Buddhism because Buddhism is all about the illusory natu...

Discordianism

Has any one here heard of it?

It's basically the worship of Eris, the goddess of discord.

You could also say it is Buddhism but with an enlarged sense of humour.

Define Life-- do not use death in your definition. The condition that distinguishes animals and plants from inorganic matter, including the capacity for growth, reproduction, functional activity, and continual change preceding the permanent ending of vital processes in a cell or tissue. But technic...

Hell won't be an entirely bad place, Many Christians today often exaggerate how bad it will probably be. The Bible never says that hell will be torture. Jesus often compares hell to a variety of things, so it is safe to say hell will probably come in different severities. Some people will probably j...

2. The main quality of a car is its ability to move and carry things. And the main quality of a computer game is to carry information. If their particles could not do these things also, then cars and computer games would not work. But particles do move, and particles do carry information in various ...

I know about emergence, but it is impossible for anything to emerge from something that doesn't already exist. I think you are slightly mistaken, as I will explain: Mechanical power is merely chemical reactions which cause physical movements, which all of the particles are capable of, if re-arranged...

It does follow, but it is not easy to explain. In the end, if it is not true then you are claiming that consciousness literally came from things completely devoid of consciousness. Which is literally the equivalent of saying 0 + 0 = 1. Do you believe that anything can come from that which does not e...

Technically, I believe that reality (The state of being) itself is God. Because in the end they are no different by description. Reality is unlimited (nothing else exists to limit it), omnipresent, the only true authority and is capable of reason. A monotheistic God is unlimited, omnipresent, the on...

In the end you can feel free to think WLC is dishonest or whatever you choose. I don't see any problem with his arguments, you might think that is typical for a theist, but I don't agree with every theist who puts an argument out, gee, I barely agree with my closest theistic friends at all about God.

Christopher Hitchens is admired by many many atheists, and yet ironically he is the one saying WLC is a serious guy. So according to you, they all follow Hitchens, and yet must think Hitchens is a dishonest man too if he was lieing about William Lane Craig. The reaction that occurs in my eye when I ...

Even Christopher Hitchens (a famous atheist) gave kudos to William Lane Craig and the effectiveness of his arguments. So I think you are being dishonest to yourself, and me. Christopher said this about WLC: "my brothers and sisters and co-thinkers in the unbelieving community take him very seriously...

I bought the book but didn't get around to finishing it when I realised the things he was saying barely actually meant that God was a delusion, then I got bored and moved on.

And don't get me started on the whole William Lane Craig issue, that is another thing that puts me off that man.

The bible never condemns feminisation, I have no idea what you are talking about dude.

And ignore the guy who told you to read The God Delusion, that book is rediculous and so is the man who wrote it.

My beliefs about God and the afterlife are complex and rooted firmly in deductive logic, mathematics and evidence. And yes, I do think the Bible is probably true. For a period of time I liked the Bhagavad Gita too, but there's less information about it for me to check if it is a reliable source. By ...
