Hypnosis is a state of mind, not a state of eyelids, however, I find that closing my eyes is just more comfortable to do. When I'm really in that state of mind, remembering to blink can be a pain. Keeping my eyes closed gives me at least one less thing to worry about during trance.

If you listen to a mantra and fall asleep, then the mantra will get stuck in your head and possibly affect your thought process. This can be a nice compliment to hypnosis but it isn't hypnosis. If you're playing in a playlist, then it'd be best to just run from body to body without waking up inbetween. The longer a trance lasts the deeper you'll go into it (usually) so then whichever file comes second will have more potent suggestions. The suggestions set fine when you hear them.
