However, for the purposes of training the mind the effect is likely to be almost completely insignificant unless you listen to the same stuff 100s of times, maybe even 1000s, and even then you can't be sure...

An interesting case. She was addicted to sex, to the point that she couldn't maintain friendships and workplace relationships. It was all but destroying her life. She started getting those tats and it helped her overcome her addiction. It was in Bizarre. Perhaps we are lucky that we have hypnosis?
My guess would be that most likely this would lead to confusion and that after a while you would become uncomfortable listening to one, or both, of the files.
Try listening to a straight induction file - down, up, no suggestions. This might help you get used to longer periods of trance. Otherwise it sounds like you need a stronger induction.
