Hey guys. just got a new computer on which Virtual Hypnotist would work (my old one was a piece of crap) and now i'm getting an error. here's the message:

Error source: Main Screen

Error Number: 339

Description: Component 'Flash.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid.

that comes up whenever i try to start a session. entering the main screen, altering the configurations etc. all works fine. just when i try to start a session it stuffs up.

any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys :)

P.S. i have installed macromedia flash, so that's not it.

Try disabling the video effects. It sounds like something is missing on the computer to enable Flash animations. If this is the case you might want to get the newest Macromedia Flash player, which is free.

I would guess that you either don't have/have a currpted flashplayer and/or installation of directx.

I recommend you download directX 9.0c and install it, then try the program. If that doesn't work, try reinstalling flash(if you already have it).

thanks for the suggestions guys, but i've already done both. i can say for certain that it's not directx because i've tested that plenty with various other things. flash though i know nothing about and i used the installer off the macromedia website and found the file that the error says was missing and it's there. so now i really don't know what to do. but thanks again for the help.

While I'm sure there are many Virtual Hypotist users here (I'm one), you'd probably be better off asking this question in the Virtual Hypnotist mailing list:

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/virtualhypnotist/

You can also try reinstalling flash. Try following this link for the latest version:

http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe

See if that fixes it.

You can also try to access a Flash cartoon and see if it works:

I have a question along those lines.. When I start up VH I only get the Microsoft Sam voice, how do I expand/add voices? Anyone know or have this problem? I can't really go into an induction with Sam talking to me.

At the site where you download VH, there is a file called speechsystem.zip. If you install all the packages, that this file contains, you ought to get several voices installed? At least I did, and I think they must have been in that file. but you need to run all the little files one after another.

those files in the speechsystem.zip file are not compatible with the newest speech system included with Windows XP, but there is a file that can tell you what to install first to get those voices to work.
Virtual Hypnotist supports both the old SAPI4 and the newer SAPI5, although the Agent characters aren't supported in SAPI5.
