Let mind wander or focus?

Hello, I'm a little confused at the moment. I've been listening to some files and seem to enter a trance fairly easily now, but I have one question. Should I just let my mind wander or should I try to stay focused on the file? I've been trying to stay focused on the file without realy thinking about what it says but it seems to work better if I just let my mind wander.
