Is it important for this file to be heard with normal volume or is a very low volume enough to have it work? As if low volume is ok, it would be easy to have it on when surfing the net or doing other activities where I don't need full concentration.

A low volume while doing something else may work as a subliminal effect. But you'll have to play with the volume to get the best effects.
