Explain your definition of "Trance Music" is it something loud and trippy with a repetitive beat?

Its kind of music thats meant to induce trance in the same way that crickets and waterfalls can, by having multiple repetitive but ever-slightly changing beets.

If the music is soothing and quiet and can stay in the background it can be used as background for inductions.

I don't think that music (or what I understand as such) can induce a trance on its own. If music alone can bring on a trance, its more than likely that its because music causes you to relax and meditate, and the meditation puts you in a trance.

I don't believe in music by itself - or subliminal by themselves for that matter :-)

Nope and I would have to say I agree, altho some music if listened to with the right script can work..
Its got to be soothing and repetetive..

For example, for best effect, I use a small fan. It provides what's called 'white noise' and helps people sleep. It can also assist (but not cause) trances, in my experience.
