Question about mantras...

Postby maskedanonymity » January 16th, 2013, 8:32 pm

I was just hoping to get some opinions about whether I might have success recording a mantra with a single sentence detailing what I want to feel/happen, such as developing a fetish or interest, or getting rid of one, in my own voice on a loop, and getting results from it.
Do you think I might have success? Is there any particular technique I might benefit from? etc.

This came to mind as a possibility for when I don't have time for a full hypnosis file, and just want to listen to a mantra for five minutes or whatever, to help achieve a result.

Thanks!

I believe that it's been done before, but I'm not sure how effective it may be.

I am thinking your best bet would be to write your mantra down..
and repeat it when you need it .. this works for the alcoholics and various other addictive personalities. positive affirmations.. etc..

why record it ,, a mantra is a short , focus burst , to get you moving forward toward your direction of choice...

work for Paul Atreides

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain

I like this one better

"It is by will alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the juice of sapho that thoughts acquire speed, the lips acquire stains, the stains become a warning. It is by will alone I set my mind in motion."

although this is not in the book, but in the Sci-fi series ..

granted this talks of intaking "the spice " but coffee can substitute

Well theoretically, to someones 'subconscious' this mantra would cause focus upon fear, mind killing, obliteration, fear again etc.

A person would need to use words describing what they want, not what they don't. I am not an expert, but I believe this may have been established.

Also, relaxation would best be used when a mantra is not used purposefully, but rather listened to. I think a person might want to accept purposefully what is repeated, but this is not a proper answer since I am far from being an expert, and have never even made one file!

so take it or leave it.

remember this is a mantra ...not hypno suggestion...
a way of focusing you and psyching you up ...

a reminder of what you have already planned to do , or how you plan to react...

often when weightlifting .. I remind myself I have done this. I can do this , I will do this .. I have done this already in head .. I am ready ...

A mantra is short burst of affirmation
not a complex post hypnotic suggestion

I agree on this of course!
I definitely think the idea is the same, with focusing the conscious and subconscious simultaneously.

But I have to say that I love the Dune reference also.
I loved that movie and read the book long ago.
I didn't greatly like the tv miniseries.

Mantras are usually positive. I have read a few books on mantras and have yet to find a suggestion to include anything like the 'Dune mantras'. Being fiction, their value as a good example is very low.

I would never use anything like that myself. But if it does make you feel better or work out better, that's the real test, isn't it, not theory.

I know this doesn't belong here, I'm sorry for posting a Dune reply here ... should I PM you?

How old are you?

I mean yeah, the miniseries is _better_! But...
For its time I mean,
I thoroughly enjoyed the movie when it first came out way back.
I guess the benegesserit 'voice' would be relevant here.

it is OK talk about anything in the forums... yeah we are off subject..
the miniseries was necessary to get a feel for the dune universe. to do that in the books.. Frank Herbert had to come up fake encyclopedias, Bengesert tomes, Mentats training manual... etc..
a miniseries was required to cover the bases so you understood what was going on . David Lynch did the best he could in 2 hours.. Children of Dune was good, not as good .. But I would love to see God Emperor Dune ... 1/2 worm Leto rocked ...and talk about having your ducks in a row ... no one dared raise a finger to him !! Even better ..every major power knew they were doomed eventually under his immortal rule ..

he slowly crushed them all, and new he could live for what ever time was necessary to wait them out .

If the original poster requests we can move this to idle chat
