Just wondering if anyone has used a light sedative before a trance, and if so did it help boost the effects?

I know there's actual academic research done by Milton Erickson regarding the use of alcohol (he reported some success). The combination of various pharmaceuticals with trance has come up more than a few times before here. Check the archives. FWIW, if you fall asleep, you've gone too far and sedatives make sleep very easy.

There are some light sedatives you can use which will have an excellent effect without drugging you up to much. Melatonin, catnip, passion flower and valerian are the most common ingredients in over-the-counter sleep aids, and you can take them as teas or in pill form.

I prefer the relaxation beverages such as:

They work in a matter of minutes, and they improve relaxation, bodily comfort and receptivity.

Clary Sage in essential oil form, topically applied, will have a similar effect.

Before doing trance work, avoid stimulants which put you Beta state, such as caffeine. I tried doing a session yesterday on a residual caffeine high and got no where with it.
