Yes, it does. A common element of hypnosis/trance is increased tolerance for ambiguity and contradiction. It's quite possible to perceive something as being both there and not there and to be unconcerned with that.

It's a start. Some hypnotic/posthypnotic phenomena are considerably easier to produce than others, and that sort of tingling, stretching sensation is much easier to produce than visual hallucinations.
