I was wondering if it might be a good idea to have a regular email update service from the site that could list changes to the site, new files added, perhaps fast moving votes, maybe new forum threads.

Was thinking something like you get from Yahoo groups. Though I am not always a fan of such things, I see from the Your Account page that there is provision.
