I get the error....register with /msg NickServ whn I enter chat. How do you do this?

You can try /msg nickserv register

The chat basically runs on IRC - what may be one of the very oldest chat systems in all of the internet.

Like a dinosaur out of the beginning of the internet. Yet it works pretty reliably and stable, and there are many clients to use it/access it.

So this nickserv thing is some sort of protection, that other people cannot us ethe nickname you have chosen. As this service is independent from this website here, you have to do it again on there.
