Of those categories I selected classical (it's what's on right now) but most of my tastes are along the lines of instrumental/space/ambient/trance/techno/whatever. Weird stuff that they never play on the radio.

However, I do like a lot of "normal" stuff, and since you asked for sad songs here's what I found in my collection:

* "Dust in the Wind", Kansas
* "Elle G", The Newsboys (It's a Christian song, but not blatantly) :P
* "Slip Slidin' Away", Paul Simon
* For that matter, nearly anything by Simon & Garfunkel ("The Dangling Conversation" always makes me cry; also "Patterns", "I am a Rock", "A Hazy Shade of Winter")
* Anything by Jackson Browne ("The Pretender", "Doctor My Eyes", "Running on Empty", etc)
* "Long Long Way to Go", Phil Collins
* "White Flag", Dido
* "Split Screen Sadness", John Mayer
* Anything by Alanis Morssette, esp. "The Couch" and "Forgive Me Love"

At least half of those songs make me cry (so I tend not to listen to them all that often).

Mallic, lately I've been listenning mainly to outsider music (i.e. Daniel Johnston, Wesley Willis, Sexton Ming, Jandek), but I voted for punk because that's what I grew up with when I was in my teens oh-so-many years ago.

As for the what I can reccomend that is sad and moving, of all my albums (about 1000) that I would consider would be Lou Reed's "Berlin." The whole album has this depressing air about it.

I chose Jazz, but My tastes are all over the place, even the stuff that Jacara likes. I hate country and Rap.

Speaking of moving songs, one I like is "You've got a Friend" by Carole King.
it reminds me of my family.

Same, I REALLY hate rap. It's like that sence in Family Guy.

Police Dispatcher: Shots in warehouse, Three dead, one wounded.

Brian: Is it just me, or is rap music just getting lazier?

The most moving song I can think of right now is on Nirvana's unplugged-album: The Man who sold the World, originally by David Bowie.

Bands I like: Tool, Meshuggah, Faith No More, Isis, The Beatles

---Edit: One more song and one another band: The song is REM's "Losing my Religion" and the Band I forgot to mention earlier is Interpol.

Have a look at Amazon for samples and snippets to have an idea what the bands and songs sound like in case you don't know them...

Theres that horribly depressing REM-Everybody Hurts

Makes me want to kill myself.

At the moment I mostly listen to trance, trip hop and ambient music.
Some rock now and again a little indie. But not as much as I used to.

No Woman No Cry is kinda moving aint quite sad though...

Red Hot Chilli Peppers-Under the Bridge- that is amazing, moving too.

A few of my favourite sad songs:

System of a Down - Soldier Side
System of a Down - She's Like Heroin
Nirvana - You Know You're Right
Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart
Interpol - Evil
Radiohead - Creep
Radiohead - High and Dry
REM - Losing my Religion (actually the only REM song I can stand)
Anything by Opeth (though if you are not a metal fan, I can only reccommend their Damnation album)
Adagio for Strings (Not really a song as such but still a very sad, beautiful piece of music)

You might have guessed from my song choices that I am mostly into rock and metal music but I can also listen to and enjoy pretty much everything else as long as it isn't RnB or rap
