Chapter 1 - Context

Note this is still in progress at the moment and may be edited drastically before it is anywhere near its final form.  Also apologies on my writing - I rarely do anything like this.  Also I'm aware that the pacing is probably a little slow, but it should eventually get somewhere.

Andrew and Bob had been friends since middle school.  Now in high school their frienship was still going strong.  Unknown to each other, they each had feelings for the other, which was complicated by the fact that Bob had a girlfriend named Samantha (he was bi) and Andrew was firmly in the closet.  Neither wanted to risk their friendship by confessing their feelings so they had continued through their first two years of highschool without touching on the topic.

While nether of them were unpopular, both tended to avoid the larger highly popular cliques that high school is so well known for, instead prefering to have a smaller closer group of friends.  Samantha had been trying to draw Bob into her friend group, which mostly consisted of cheerleaders and their boy friends, most of whom were either varsity swimmers, or football players, and as such he had been a little more distant from most of his friends this semester. 

Both Andrew and Bob had been looking forward to the coming three day weekend, since Andrews parents had been planning a trip, which would leave the house open for a small scale party.  Since there was a swim meet Samantha would be busy cheering them on so this would be the first time in a while that their friends could meetup without more people being invited to "spice things up" by Samantha.  Overall there were going to be around a dozen people at the party.
